A surprisingly dynamic region
The surroundings of our holiday farm in Anderen have a surprising amount to offer. Whether you like hiking, cycling, sniffing up culture or simply enjoying Drenthe country life - this is the place to be.
Hiking through the Drentsche Aa National Park
From the accommodation, you walk straight into the Drentsche Aa National Park. This is one of the most unspoilt nature reserves in the Netherlands. The stream meanders through the landscape like a living ribbon and along the way you will encounter ancient ash trees, burial mounds, wooded banks and heathland. Put on your walking shoes and follow one of the many marked walking routes. With a bit of luck you will see roe deer or special birds like the tree falcon. The silence here is almost tangible. And want to go off-track? There are plenty of unexplored hiking trails where you can wander safely through nature.

Cycling past dolmens and esd villages
Others is in the middle of an area that invites endless cycling. Get on your bike and discover the region in a relaxing way. You can do so with a normal bicycle, but of course also in a sporty way with a mountain bike. Pass authentic esdorpen villages, stately farms and impressive megalithic tombs. For example, take a trip towards Borger, the 'Hunebedcentrum' of the Netherlands. Along the way, you will have plenty of options to take a break and enjoy local delicacies. Assen is also easily accessible by bike and along the way you will enjoy a varied landscape full of history and space.
Cultural excursions nearby
Fancy a cultural day trip? Then our holiday farm is also an excellent base. In the Drents Museum in Assen, immerse yourself in archaeology, art and history. Or visit the Ellert and Brammert Open Air Museum in Schoonoord and see for yourself how people used to live in sod huts. A little closer by is the atmospheric Orvelte, a museum village where old crafts are still performed. You really feel like you're in another time here.
